Southern Thunder Harley Davidson
A2H planned and designed this 54,000 square feet LEED Silver facility, which was programmed to be 30 percent more energy efficient than comparable buildings. This ground up new dealership included a large public showroom, sales offices, support areas, and maintenance shop.
All aspects of this project placed an emphasis on sustainable materials and strategies. Over 10 percent of the materials utilized in construction were reused — including the old barn wood throughout the interior — and 20 percent of materials contained recycled content. To help reduce the demands of municipal water supplies, the design team placed water-conserving fixtures that reduced indoor water use by 33 percent.
Also, by combining native and adaptive vegetation with efficient irrigation, the facility was able to reduce its water usage for landscape irrigation by 77 percent.
