City of Memphis Resurfacing & Bike Lane Program

As part of the city’s on-going effort across Memphis to correct roadways with significant deterioration and to lengthen the life of the roadways, A2H worked with the city to manage Groups 2 and 5 of a multi-phase improvement effort. The firm designed the rehabilitation of 13 roadways with varying conditions such as potholes and surface cracking and spalling, due to heavy traffic use, aging, and weathering to help reduce potential vehicular damage and provide safer routes for motorists.

The upgrades to the roadways not only included new asphalt overlays and pavement markings for vehicles, but also improved the roads for pedestrians and bicyclists. The design plans include striping for bicycle lanes along all 14.5 miles of newly resurfaced roadways. Lastly, replacements of the existing curb and gutter were also completed.
