A2H has performed seismic risk assessments for public and private clients in the Memphis area since the city's buildings are located close to the New Madrid seismic zone. This zone is still seismically active and has produced three of the largest earthquakes in North America. Most existing buildings in the Memphis area were not designed to resist earthquakes; thus, these buildings could potentially sustain severe damage from moderate to large earthquakes.
