Low Impact Development Design Competition

As part of a design competition, A2H’s team of landscape architects and civil engineers designed a conceptual low impact development plan. The plan focused on shaping the future of Shelby County’s stormwater permitting process.

According to Memphis & Shelby County Office of Sustainability, “Low Impact Development (LID) is a way to treat stormwater runoff in a way that mimics the natural hydrology of the site instead of the traditional method of piping the water directly off the site.”

The competition involved the development of an LID design to treat stormwater on a 12.5 acre site in Frayser. Michael Shelton, the head of our landscape architecture group, will be displaying our team's design at the award ceremony on Thursday, September 4 at the Dixon Gallery.
